As the new Doctor Who spinoff Tales of the TARDIS makes its debut, eagle-eyed viewers will be able to spot various references to the Doctor's past.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT In preparation for its 60th-anniversary special, Doctor Who has released a brand-new spin-off, Tales of the TARDIS, jam-packed with Easter eggs referencing the Doctor's past. Tales of the TARDIS is the first Doctor Who spin-off since the return of Russell T. Davies as showrunner, who rebooted the hit sci-fi show in 2005, and served as head writer until the departure of David Tennant's Doctor in 2010.
As the Doctor and Tegan spot each other for the first time, Eleven's fez can also be spotted sitting on a shelf, the same one as seen in the season 5 episode "The Big Bang". A miniature version of Cassandra's jukebox can also be seen, a reference to the season 1 episode "The End of the World.
In another shot, the mask of the Clockwork Droids from the season 2 episode "The Girl in the Fireplace" can be clearly seen, next to a small gold clock. Although it is not the same clock that sat upon the hearth of Madame De Pompadour's, it does bear a very similar resemblance, and so can be presumed this too is a reference to the same episode.
2 The Time Meddler "The Time Meddler" saw the reunification of two companions of the first Doctor , Steven and Vicki . Almost immediately, the two find the Doctor's pocket watch hanging from one of the TARDIS panels, an accessory the First Doctor carried often. They are also quick to find the horned Viking helmet that they'd discovered on the beach during "The Time Meddler", which leads them into the retelling of the story.
