The Philippine National Police said 29 suspected members of the communist New People’s Army operating in the province of Sarangani formally surrendered on Friday. | zacariansINQ
The suspected NPA members who surrendered were received by personnel of the Kiamba Municipal Police Station and the Army’s 38th IB, 6th ID, at the Headquarters of the Alpha Company, 38th IB, 6th ID, PA, Purok Caballero, Barangay Tambilil, Kiamba, Sarangani Province.
Azurin also said the suspected NPA members turned over several rifles, assorted rounds of ammunition, an improvised explosive device, and 70 meters of electrical wire. “We are gaining the efforts of the local peace initiatives being pursued by our police units all over the country. We hope that our various sectors in the society will continuously channel their initiatives and encourage to support these peace endeavors of the different LGUs so that we can altogether win this for a peaceful community in general,” Azurin said.
