The 27th Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival is set to take place in Johor Baru, Malaysia, from February 12 to February 16, attracting over 126 participants from 44 countries. The festival will also feature 250 local participants and incorporate collaborations with other kite festivals in Perlis and Satun. This year's theme, 'Stay Clean, Enjoy Fly,' emphasizes environmental cleanliness and the joy of kite flying, aligning with the Malaysian government's efforts to promote a cleaner and healthier environment.
JOHOR BARU: A total of 126 participants from 44 countries will take part in the upcoming 27th Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival at Bukit Layang-Layang, here. Malaysia n Kite Council (MPM) president Datuk A. Rahim Nin said the event will run from February 12 to February 16, with over 500,000 visitors expected to attend. Datuk A. Rahim Nin stated that the festival would also feature 250 local participants from the MPM network.
This year's festival will collaborate with the Perlis State Government to organize the Perlis International Kite Fiesta on February 18. Furthermore, the organizers have partnered with groups from Satun, Thailand, where kiters will participate in the Satun International Kite Festival from February 20 to February 23. The theme for this year's festival is 'Stay Clean, Enjoy Fly,' promoting environmental cleanliness while celebrating the joy of kite flying. Datuk A. Rahim Nin explained that this theme aligns with the government's efforts to encourage the public to prioritize cleanliness in all aspects of life, supporting the Johor Bersih agenda for a cleaner and healthier environment. He added that three new countries—La Reunion, Tasmania, and Tahiti—will be participating in the festival for the first time. A Special Exhibition Gallery will be set up to showcase unique international kites from countries such as Indonesia, Sweden, Cambodia, Thailand, Brunei, and Malaysia.
