A 17-year-old boy was struck and killed by a trolley in Chula Vista on Sunday night, authorities said. Chula Vista police and Metropolitan Transit System officials are investigating the incident, which occurred shortly after 10:15 p.m. near the intersection of Naples Street and Industrial Boulevard, said Chula Vista police Sgt. Anthony Molina. The name of the boy wasn't released.
Police responding to the scene started medical aid right away, but the teen died before he could be taken to a hospital. Molina said it is not believed there was 'a criminal issue' involved. MTS spokesperson Mark Olson said the fatal incident occurred near the Palomar Station on the Blue Line. There were slight delays to service Sunday night because trains had to operate on a single track in the area for a short time, he said.
