AT least 15 people died in a fire that broke out in a residential area in Quezon City on Thursday morning.

The city government, according to Engelbert Apostol, chief of the Department of Public Affairs and Information Service, is coordinating with the Bureau of Fire Protection for an official report on the incident.An initial report showed the fire started around 5:50 a.m. at a residential area in Barangay Tandang Sora and was controlled past 8 a.m.Unconfirmed reports also indicated that there were at least three residents who survived.

Apostol said Mayor Maria Josefina 'Joy' Belmonte has instructed the Social Services Development Department to reach out to the relatives and families of the fire victims and provide assistance.'Our Department of Building Official and Business Permit and Licensing Department are also checking if the establishment where the fire took place has permit or documents,' Apostol told The Manila Times.
