PETALING JAYA: Police arrested 127 people yesterday for flouting the recovery movement control order , Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today. He said eight of them had been remanded while 119 were fined. Sixty-five of them were arrested for failing to comply with SOPs and 62 for participating in activities that made physical distancing difficult.

Ismail said in a statement that police also detained an individual for immigration offences as part of the ongoing Ops Benteng. “Yesterday, the police conducted 1,969 checks on people undergoing their 14-day home quarantine,” he said.Subscribe to our newsletter and get news delivered to your mailbox.
