The Thaipusam Task Force (TFF) is preparing to deploy over 1,000 dedicated volunteers at temples across Malaysia for the upcoming Thaipusam celebration on February 11. Chairman G. Gunaraj stated that at least 500 volunteers will be stationed at the renowned Batu Caves temple in Gombak, Selangor. These volunteers will be actively involved during the three busiest days leading up to the festival.
Gunaraj emphasized the crucial role these volunteers will play in maintaining cleanliness and ensuring devotees are well-informed about the dos and don'ts during the festivities. \Speaking during a press conference in Petaling Jaya today (January 27), Gunaraj revealed that an estimated two million visitors are expected at Batu Caves during the Thaipusam period. To effectively manage this influx of devotees, the TFF is collaborating with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) such as Clean Thaipusam and Cuci Malaysia to coordinate volunteer efforts. Among the volunteers contributing to this initiative are 200 youth volunteers from the Human Resources Ministry's Wira Kesuma program. \Gunaraj expressed gratitude for the consistent increase in volunteer support over the years, highlighting its significance in making the Thaipusam celebration a success. He further explained that volunteers will be responsible for clearing rubbish outside the temple premises and providing assistance to devotees throughout the entire festival period
