PETALING JAYA: Controversial businessman Victor Chin must immediately reveal the identity of the MP who allegedly received RM9.5mil and stop fuelling public speculation, says Dr Abu Hafiz Salleh Hudin.
The PKR central leadership council member said the claim that a large sum of money was paid to an MP to “settle” the “corporate mafia” issue is serious and must be addressed quickly. “If the claim is true, name the individual involved and produce the evidence now. There is no need to wait until March,” said Abu Hafiz in a TikTok video on Thursday . He said withholding evidence would only create confusion and invite slander against national institutions.“So I urge Chin to reveal the name of the PKR MP. If he is guilty of blackmail, we, as supporters of the Madani government, will not defend him,” he added. Syed Abu praised PKR vice-president Datuk Seri R. Ramanan for quickly addressing the matter at a press conference on Wednesday . The allegation surfaced after Chin, also known as Chin Boon Loong, produced a 40-page document detailing a timeline of events. He claimed a PKR MP asked for RM10mil to resolve the issue, but he initially provided only RM9.5mil.Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said police know Chin’s whereabouts, and any action, including possible passport revocation, will be decided after initial investigations are completed. The “corporate mafia” claims allege that senior Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission officers orchestrated intimidation campaigns that pressured executives and shareholders of publicly listed firms to resign or sell shares at steep discounts to a network of connected businessmen. MACC has denied the allegations, calling them an attempt to tarnish the credibility of its investigations and enforcement actions.
