Four people including a police officer were injured in a stabbing attack in Sydney early on Sunday, police said, the latest in a series of knife assaults in Australia's biggest city this year.

MELAKA: Melaka Opposition leader Dr Mohd Yadzil Yaakub launched a sharp attack against the state government for a supposed lackadaisical approach to resolving flash floods in the historic city. The Bemban assemblyman said the flood situation in Bandar Hilir on late Friday evening has traumatised the residents and business community in the popular tourist destination while causing damages to the victims.

"However, there was not a single response from stakeholders from the state government to alleviate the sufferings of the victims," he said on Saturday . Dr Mohd Yadzil said Friday's flood wasn't the first time that many areas in the city were submerged in water. "It has happened numerous times and there are no long-term and temporary solutions to resolving the situation," he said. Dr Mohd Yadzil said the state government must work towards taking serious measures to mitigate flood hazards. "The state government must prioritise the need of these flood victims first and not solely focus on the"pomp and splendour" of tourism events," he added. Some 152 residential units here were affected by Friday's flash flood following heavy rain and strong wind for two hours starting at 7.30pm on Aug 23.The situation also caused 30 homes in traditional villages in Kampung Morten and 23 homes in Kampung Chetti here to be inundated with flood water.Man dies after falling into 15m deep well in Johor
