SINGAPORE: Starbucks has been told by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) to remove or amend signs referring to its transition towards halal certification, after a sign by the coffee chain posted on social media drew the attention of netizens.

State Deputy Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Liwan Lagang said vandalism cases statewide caused an estimated RM11.34mil in losses last year. To tackle the issue more effectively, he said the committee would strengthen cooperation and community involvement through awareness programmes and encourage the public to report suspicious activities at utility and telecommunications facilities.
"In addition, integrated operations called Ops Lusuh are carried out regularly at scrap premises with police and enforcement agencies," he told Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman during question time on Friday . He said complaints can also be made to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission at aduan.mcmc.gov.my or 1-800-188-030, or by contacting the talikhidmat.sarawak.gov.my portal, or calling 082-555 999 for further action.
