Rosalind Jubit secured a double victory at the Sodop Huminodun KDCA Inanam 2026, winning both the main title and the public choice award during the cultural celebration.
The cultural landscape of Kota Kinabalu was recently illuminated by the vibrant celebration of heritage and beauty during the Sodop Huminodun KDCA Inanam 2026 pageant.
This prestigious event, which serves as a cornerstone of the Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan (UNK) Inanam program, brought together a diverse group of talented individuals to showcase the timeless elegance of Sabah. The competition is not merely a beauty pageant but a profound tribute to the ancestral roots and the cultural identity of the local community, emphasizing the harmony between modern aspirations and traditional legacies.
Amidst an atmosphere of excitement and cultural pride, the event highlighted the importance of preserving the indigenous customs of the region for future generations to admire and uphold. Standing out among the talented pool of participants, Rosalind Jubit emerged as the undisputed star of the evening, achieving a remarkable double victory.
She was crowned as the Tati Sodop Huminodun, the primary title of the competition, and also secured the Tati Kaanangan title, which was determined through an engaging public voting process. For her primary victory, Rosalind was awarded a cash prize of RM700, accompanied by a trophy, a sash, and a crown. Her popularity among the audience was further cemented by her win as Tati Kaanangan, for which she received an additional RM500 along with a separate trophy, sash, and crown.
Her success is a testament to her grace, poise, and the deep connection she demonstrated with the cultural essence of the event. The competition featured a total of 15 contestants, each dressed in stunning designer ensembles that masterfully blended contemporary fashion with traditional Sabahan elements. This fusion of styles reflected the evolving nature of cultural expression, where the old meets the new in a seamless display of artistry.
Other notable winners included Jennifer Ivy Reiley, who earned the Tati Tosuau title, and Laila Mordino, who was named Tati Topiodo. Both women were recognized for their exceptional presence and were awarded RM500 each, alongside trophies, sashes, and crowns. These awards highlight the various facets of beauty and character that the Sodop Huminodun pageant seeks to celebrate, ensuring that different strengths are acknowledged. Beyond the individual titles, the event also placed a significant emphasis on the craftsmanship of traditional attire.
The Basaan Togingo award, which recognizes excellence in design and creation, was presented to Asfa Nash and Brielantes. Their breathtaking creation, titled 'The Beauty of Mongomod Parai', was worn by Rosalind Jubit during the competition, serving as a visual masterpiece that captivated the judges and the audience alike. This award underscores the importance of the artisans and designers who work tirelessly to keep traditional weaving and garment construction alive in a modern world.
The synergy between the model and the designer played a crucial role in bringing the conceptual beauty of the piece to life on stage. In a gesture of inclusivity and appreciation, all participants were rewarded for their efforts. The finalists who did not take home the top titles received consolation prizes of RM300 each.
Furthermore, every contestant was gifted with Borneo-inspired lanyards and Twilly scarves, generously sponsored by Chanteek Borneo, as well as a variety of beauty products provided by Emina Cosmetics Malaysia. These sponsorships illustrate the strong support from the local business community in promoting cultural events and empowering the youth. Such collaborations ensure that the participants feel valued and motivated to continue representing their heritage.
As the festivities continue, the community looks forward with great anticipation to the UNK Inanam finals, which are scheduled to take place on May 17 at the Manggatal Community Hall. This upcoming finale will be the crowning jewel of the KDCA Inanam Kaamatan Festival celebration, drawing crowds from across the region to witness the culmination of weeks of preparation and cultural display.
The Sodop Huminodun event has set a high standard for the finals, creating a wave of excitement and pride. As the region prepares for the main event, the spirit of unity and cultural preservation remains the driving force, ensuring that the legacy of the Kaamatan festival continues to thrive and inspire
