Petronas, through Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM), in collaboration with Beicip Franlab Asia, has initiated an Integrated Basin Study to explore untapped resources in the Malay Basin, located off the coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The study leverages advanced 4D modeling and machine learning technologies to analyze subsurface architecture at both basin and reservoir scales. It also focuses on predicting hydrocarbon migration and trapping using big data from the Malay Basin. The Malay Basin, often considered mature, still holds significant untapped potential, as evidenced by discoveries like Bunga Aster and Bekok Deep. Through this collaboration and AI-powered geophysical initiatives, Petronas aims to redefine possibilities and unlock new opportunities in this prolific region. The Malay Basin has produced over nine billion barrels of oil equivalent since the 1970s, earning its status as a 'super' basin. Recent exploration activities have revealed significant new discoveries, highlighting the basin's continued potential. Beyond hydrocarbons, it offers vast opportunities for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), positioning it as a key player in sustainable energy development.
PETALING JAYA: Petroliam Nasional Berhad melalui Malaysia Petroleum Management , dengan kerjasama Beicip Franlab Asia, telah memulakan Kajian Lembangan Bersepadu untuk meneroka sumber yang belum diterokai di Lembangan Melayu, yang terletak di luar pantai Semenanjung Malaysia.
Ia juga memberi tumpuan kepada meramalkan penghijrahan dan pemerangkapan hidrokarbon dengan memanfaatkan data besar dari Lembangan Melayu. “Melalui kerjasama kami dengan Beicip Franlab Asia mengenai Kajian Lembangan Bersepadu dan inisiatif geofizik yang didayakan kecerdasan buatan kami dengan Analitis Sains Bumi, kami berhasrat untuk mentakrifkan semula perkara yang mungkin dan membuka peluang baharu di rantau yang prolifik ini,” katanya dalam kenyataan.
“Aktiviti penerokaan baru-baru ini telah menemui penemuan baharu yang penting, menonjolkan potensi berterusan lembangan itu.
