Seniors at a teacher training institute in Kuching allegedly bullied male juniors by forcing them to squat, perform indecent acts, and make obscene sounds in front of other students.
PETALING JAYA: The Institute of Teacher Education is investigating bullying claims at its Kuching campus in Sarawak, stressing it will not compromise on disciplinary action. The institution, under the education ministry, said firm action, including expulsion, will be taken against any trainee found guilty.
“IPGM does not compromise on misconduct like bullying. Teacher trainees must be disciplined and demonstrate good morals and character as future educators,” it said in a statement today. Earlier today, Berita Harian reported that seniors at the IPG Kuching campus allegedly bullied male juniors from the 2025/2030 intake early Friday morning by forcing them to squat, perform indecent acts, and make obscene sounds in front of other students.
The Malay daily quoted a mother of a trainee as saying that she was disappointed after the allegations came to light and urged the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation. The victims were also allegedly subjected to derogatory slurs, being called “dog” and “pig”. They were instructed not to bring mobile phones or watches to the session.
