Perak Chief Minister Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad announced that approximately 3% of the state's Permanent Forest Reserve (HSK) will be utilized for the development of the Industrial Forest Plantation Zone (ZPLH). The designated area for ZPLH in Perak is 32,375 hectares, and the state government is committed to controlled, phased development with environmental impact assessments and monitoring. No plans exist to expand this area beyond the current allocation.

Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad berkata, ZPLH di negeri ini adalah seluas 32,375 hektar iaitu bersamaan kira-kira 3 peratus daripada keseluruhan keluasan HSK di Perak.
Beliau berkata, kerajaan negeri memastikan pembangunan ladang hutan dilaksanakan secara terkawal, berfasa serta mengambil kira aspek pemantauan dan impak terhadap alam sekitar.
“Kerajaan negeri Perak telah menetapkan pelaksanaan sebenar ZPLH di negeri Perak hanya melibatkan keluasan seluas 32,375 hektar, iaitu bersamaan kira-kira 3 peratus daripada keseluruhan keluasan Hutan Simpanan Kekal di negeri ini.
“Kerajaan negeri tidak mempunyai sebarang perancangan untuk menambah keluasan baharu bagi ZPLH. Segala pelaksanaan tertakluk kepada had yang telah ditetapkan,” katanya ketika menjawab soalan lisan Azman Noh pada Mesyuarat Pertama Tahun Keempat Dewan Negeri Perak ke-15 di Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan hari ini.
Menurut Saarani, sehingga 31 Disember lalu, daripada jumlah keluasan yang ditetapkan, hanya berbaki 809 hektar yang belum diberikan kelulusan.
Beliau berkata, secara keseluruhan, sebanyak 31,566 hektar telah diluluskan bagi pembangunan ladang hutan, dengan 8,810 hektar telah dibangunkan.“Bagaimanapun, masih terdapat 22,756 hektar kawasan yang belum dibangunkan,” katanya.
