Yeoh stated that the meeting aims to explore how the ministry can better support independent, high-performing athletes like Lee Zii Jia and Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Mohd Rumsani.
While Lee Zii Jia is currently not part of the RTG program, Yeoh expressed a willingness to discuss his inclusion. She highlighted the increasing success of independent players in recent times and emphasized the ministry's desire to provide them with enhanced support. The talks are expected to commence next month, following the Ramadan fasting period. Yeoh explained that the timing needed to be carefully considered as athletes often require travel for training and competitions. Last week, reports indicated that Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin welcomed the offer from the RTG committee to join the program in preparation for LA28. Yeoh further revealed that the RTG committee will undergo a reshuffle, and all athletes currently under the program will be evaluated.
