Our country is seeing a growth in phase 1 clinical trials conducted by public hospitals to test new drugs and devices.

PETALING JAYA: Wanita MCA is inviting Malaysians to its “Half a Century · Blooming Young Experience” Health Family Day on March 14 , a full-day programme offering free health services and family activities to promote preventive care and stronger family ties.

Wanita MCA chief Datuk Wong You Fong said the event is aimed at encouraging healthier lifestyles, strengthening family well-being and nurturing a culture of care within the community.“We hope the public will take part in this meaningful community health initiative and encourage their loved ones to join them so that families can look after their health together,” she said. Themed “Give to Gain: Together in a Community of Care”, the Health Family Day will run from 9am to 4pm at Dewan San Choon, Wisma MCA, and is open to all.A wide range of health screening services will be available, including blood pressure, blood glucose and cholesterol tests, colorectal cancer screening, lung and liver health checks, HPV DNA testing for cervical cancer, as well as breast cancer screening and mammogram referrals. Senior citizens may also benefit from dementia and sarcopenia assessments to help detect early signs of memory loss and age-related muscle decline. Recognising that health is not only physical, the programme will also provide on-site mental health consultations, giving participants the chance to seek early advice and support. In support of the national blood supply, a blood donation drive will be held throughout the day.“Through this initiative, we want to raise greater awareness of preventive care while encouraging families to adopt healthier lifestyles together. At the same time, the blood donation drive enables the public to help others in need,” she added. The programme will feature a series of health and wellness talks by medical professionals and experts. Among the speakers are Dr Helena Lim and Dr Paul Tay, while Pink Ribbon Wellness Foundation will share insights on breast cancer awareness and the importance of early detection. TAR UMT associate professor Datuk Dr Monna Ong Siew Siew will speak on “Is Your Child Disobedient, or Have We Not Understood? A Communication Psychology Course to Understand Children’s Hearts”, focusing on better parent-child communication and children’s emotional needs. Other sessions include an introduction to Ayurveda by Sri Varshini, a talk on eye health by Dr Goh Eng Soon, and a traditional Chinese medicine session by Dr Wu Yu-Rui on the three key elements of health preservation — nourishing the spleen and stomach, regulating sleep and anti-ageing. To create a family-friendly atmosphere, there will also be parent-child activities such as sand art and colouring sessions, making the event suitable for participants of all ages. Organisers hope the mix of health services, educational talks and fun activities will encourage parents to bring both their children and elderly family members.Follow us on our official
