The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) in Kelantan assures that there will be enough coconuts to meet the needs of the upcoming Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations. Acting Director Wan Faizatul Aniza Ismayatim says Fama is actively working to ensure a steady supply of coconuts for wholesalers and traders through various interventions.
KOTA BHARU: The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority ( Fama ) anticipates that coconut supplies in Kelantan will be adequate to meet the demands of the forthcoming Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations. Kelantan Fama director Wan Faizatul Aniza Ismayatim stated that the agency has implemented various interventions to guarantee a consistent supply for wholesalers and traders. \'We are cognizant of the prevailing scarcity of coconuts.
Consequently, at the FAMA operations centre at the Tunjong Rural Transformation Centre, we have undertaken the initiative to identify wholesalers and traders in need, offering selling prices ranging from RM2.80 to RM3 per kilogramme. Individuals requiring supply are encouraged to reach out to the Fama operations centre, as we receive stock on a scheduled basis every week,' she informed reporters after inaugurating the Famazara Agro Educare event in Kampung Telok Panji today. \Wan Faizatul Aniza explained that due to the limited expanse of coconut plantations in Kelantan, FAMA has to procure supplies externally through collaboration with the Department of Agriculture.
