Back in 2022, we reviewed the ASUS ROG Flow Z13 for the first time, and we missed the 2023 refresh of the Surface-inspired tablet cum gaming laptop. And while
ASUS is giving this a year miss for another iteration, rumours are suggesting that the portable gaming machine will be making a comeback next year but with an AMD Strix Halo processor, and not Intel.
Rumours and leaks of the alleged Strix Halo-powered Flow Z13 were first posted by HXL on X, formerly Twitter, complete with what they believe to be the schematics of the laptop beneath the hood. What is interesting to note is that the unreleased AMD APU is expected have a total board power draw of 100W - 30W from the CPU and 80W from the integrated GPU.
Based on the schematics, the new Strix Point Flow Z13 still uses a dual-fan configuration but are certainly larger, given the extra space afforded by switching to an APU. For that matter, the die is situated in the middle of the cutout, and is surrounded by the VRMs, based on the layout of the thermal pads.As for when exactly in 2025 ASUS plans on revealing its new Strix Halo Flow Z13, it's still unclear but the brand usually does these in batches.
