Separately, an Amanah Youth leader urges PH to review its alliance with BN if it forms a new Negeri Sembilan government with PN.
PKR strategic director Sim Tze Tzin said the agreement behind the unity government was to establish a stable administration until the end of the term.
PETALING JAYA: A PKR leader has urged Umno to honour its agreement to form the Negeri Sembilan government with Pakatan Harapan in 2023, after all 14 of its assemblymen retracted support for menteri besar Aminuddin Harun earlier today. PKR strategic director Sim Tze Tzin said the PH-Barisan Nasional federal government was formed to ensure political stability after the 2022 general election ended in a hung Parliament.
It was under this same premise that PH and BN contested as allies in the 2023 Negeri Sembilan state election and formed the state government together, he added.
'The agreement behind the unity government is to establish a stable administration until the end of the term. 'I hope Negeri Sembilan BN honours this agreement until the term concludes. Stability and the people's wellbeing must come first,” said Sim in an Instagram post. Separately, Amanah Youth central committee member Fadhli Umar Aminolhuda accused Umno of betraying the people's mandate, having contested with PH in the 2023 state polls, and failing to act as a responsible political partner.
Fadhli also said PH must review its alliance with BN at all levels if the coalition decides to join hands with Perikatan Nasional to form a new Negeri Sembilan government.
'PH must be clear about its own stand. Stability isn't built on inconsistent support but consistent principles and commitments.
'This is my advice to Umno - don't form another backdoor government and betray the unity that has been built,' he said in a statement. The political crisis was triggered earlier today when Negeri Sembilan Umno declared that all 14 of its assemblymen were withdrawing support for Aminuddin, who is a PKR vice-president.
State BN chief Jalaluddin Alias said the decision to retract support for Aminuddin was linked to the ongoing crisis involving four chieftains seeking to remove the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, from his position. PN's five assemblymen have said they were prepared to work with the 14 Umno assemblymen to form a new state government and ensure stability. A total of 19 seats are required to form the state government. Without Umno, PH only holds 17.
