The achievement was celebrated during the launch of a new annex building at the Port Klang Authority, coinciding with a Chinese New Year celebration and a Ramadan iftar gathering for the port community. The new seven-story administrative annex building, completed on October 5, 2025, at a cost of RM21.136 million, will serve as an additional administrative hub for the authority. It houses crucial operational facilities such as the Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS) operations room, which is integral to monitoring vessel movements within the port's waters. The building also includes a versatile multipurpose hall capable of accommodating up to 220 people, a cafeteria, and contemporary office spaces designed to accommodate the port authority's growing workforce. The port is targeting a further increase in container throughput, with a goal of 15.37 million TEUs in 2026, representing a 1.5% increase. To sustain long-term growth, the government has approved and is actively involved in several major infrastructure projects. These include the Westports 2 expansion, which will significantly increase the port's capacity to 28 million TEUs, as well as upgrades to Northport. In addition to these projects, plans for a third port terminal on Carey Island have been approved and will be developed through a collaborative effort between the Selangor state government and private sector partners.
