Admissions into higher education institutions must remain merit-based, free from politics, says Zambry ISKANDAR PUTERI: Muda is planning to contest between five and 10 state seats in the next Johor state election, says its president Amira Aisya Abd Aziz .
She said the party is targeting mixed constituencies, including urban, semi-urban and rural areas, reflecting its broader strategy to appeal to diverse voter demographics. The Puteri Wangsa assemblyman said the targeted seats include both constituencies previously contested by Muda as well as new areas.
“We are looking at mixed seats. If we look at the constituencies Muda has contested before, the demographics vary widely.
“We contested in Larkin, which is an urban seat, as well as semi-urban areas like Bukit Permai and Machap, and even rural constituencies such as Tenang. So we are not only focusing on urban areas,” she told a press conference during the state assembly sitting at Bangunan Sultan Ismail in Kota Iskandar on Monday .
Amira Aisya said Muda intends to defend the Puteri Wangsa seat, which is expected to be contested by several parties within Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional. She welcomed any party to contest the seat, adding that Muda currently has two to three potential candidates, including herself. When asked whether Muda would cooperate with Perikatan Nasional in the upcoming state election, Amira Aisya said no final decision has been made.
She, however, acknowledged that informal discussions had taken place with Johor Perikatan, adding that the matter would be decided at the appropriate time.
