PETALING JAYA: Selangor took home three crucial points in their bid to finish second in the league after winning the Klang Valley Derby against Kuala Lumpur on Sunday . The Red Giants tightened their grip in second place after they beat the City Boys 3-2 at the Cheras Football Stadium.
Selangor now have 42 points, two points ahead of Kuching City in third, while Kuala Lumpur drop to fourth place with 39 points. Winger Faisal Halim opened the scoring account in the 11th minute thanks to an assist from Alvin Fortes, delighting the away fans. Selangor kept the one-goal lead into half-time, and in the second-half added to their goal tally with another goal coming from Mamadou Diarra in the 60th minute, before Hugo Boumous made it three 10 minutes later.
