A one-day charity clinic in Kuching offered free Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatment to 1,041 patients, a record recognized by the Malaysia Book of Records. The clinic, staffed by around 100 volunteer practitioners, provided services including acupuncture, cupping, and massage, highlighting community compassion and access to healthcare. The event was held in conjunction with a TCM conference, with over 1,100 attendees.
KUCHING: A total of 1,041 patients received free Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment at a one-day charity clinic , which was officially recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records, with about 100 practitioners volunteering their services, the Dayak Daily reported.
Kuching South City Council Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said the initiative reflected community compassion and improved access to healthcare, with the clinic running from 8am to about 5pm and providing free treatment throughout the day.
Advertisement“TCM involves more than herbal remedies and includes practices such as cupping, qigong, acupuncture and tui na massage,” he said.
The event, held at the Borneo Convention Centre, saw some practitioners reportedly treating up to 200 patients as participants rotated between treatment stations, contributing to a turnout of more than 1,000 people.

The clinic was organised in conjunction with a traditional Chinese medicine conference in Kuching, where practitioners gathered to exchange knowledge and professional views.
“The official figure of 1,041 patients will be submitted for certification by the Malaysia Book of Records, and registration records indicated around 1,100 attendees, as some participants took their forms home after completing treatment, affecting the final count,” Wee said.
