BACHOK: A gas station worker suffered breathing difficulties before dying after reaching the summit of Bukit Gunong today. The incident occurred around 8:30 AM when Mohd. Yusof Hamat, 41, who was hiking alone, is believed to have experienced exhaustion upon reaching the 317-meter-high summit. Bachok Fire and Rescue Station Operations Commander Ibrahim Mohd.
Rihni stated that the incident was noticed by a doctor and his family, who were also hiking and present at the summit. He said that upon seeing the victim lying down, the doctor attempted to provide breathing assistance and contacted Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II in Kota Bharu to send oxygen equipment. The victim was given oxygen but could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The fire department received an emergency call around 8:45 AM and dispatched a team to the location to bring the victim down from the summit. Ibrahim added that the victim had reportedly started hiking alone around 7 AM
