KOTA KINABALU: A Timorese man was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment and two strokes of the rotan by the Sessions Court here for raping a 15-year-old girl he befriended on TikTok.
PETALING JAYA: Seventeen members of the Bersatu Tawau division committee, including its chief, announced that they are resigning from the party, citing a loss of confidence in the leadership of party president Muhyiddin Yassin.
Former division chief and Supreme Council member Lim Ting Khai stated that 17 out of 23 committee members have decided to leave Bersatu due to the party’s ongoing internal conflicts and its failure to manage differing opinions. He also mentioned their opposition to the sacking of former deputy president Hamzah Zainudin, which they described as undemocratic and discouraging. “Our departure reflects the stance of the majority of the division’s leadership, who no longer trust the party’s current direction," Lim explained in a Facebook video on Saturday . Lim’s resignation comes amid a wave of departures by division chiefs following Hamzah’s dismissal and growing dissatisfaction with Muhyiddin. Although some claims suggest the divisions were dissolved after these resignations, Bersatu secretary-general Azmin Ali clarified that the divisions’ status remains unaffected. The party has initiated a restructuring process for the affected divisions and party wings to fill the vacancies created by the resignations.
