Wan Rohimi Wan Daud was among several PAS assemblymen who organised a motorcycle convoy to the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport in Kota Bharu.

Melor assemblyman Wan Rohimi Wan Daud claimed he was being sabotaged by certain quarters trying to pit him against the police. PETALING JAYA: Melor assemblyman Wan Rohimi Wan Daud has denied belittling policemen posted at roadblocks in a speech to a convoy of motorcyclists at the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport in Kota Bharu, Kelantan .

Wan Rohimi claimed he was being sabotaged by certain quarters who were trying to pit him against the police, pointing out that a viral video clip of his speech had been recorded from afar, not by convoy participants. The PAS assemblyman said the term “kena bodoh” that he used was not aimed at mocking policemen deployed at roadblocks but was referring to how participants had “outsmarted” the police so the convoy would not be delayed.

He said they had done so by making use of several routes to reach the airport, Sinar Harian reported.

“There were two or three roadblocks that we passed with no issue. I waved to the police and the participants even thanked the policemen.

“When police set up the roadblocks, it’s not that we wanted to run, but we outsmarted them so that our convoy wouldn’t be disrupted. If we had gone through all the roadblocks, we wouldn’t have reached .

“I have explained the matter to the investigating officer. Don’t take it to heart. I was not mocking policemen,” he was quoted as saying. Wan Rohimi had given a statement to the police after being summoned over his speech made on Sunday, which allegedly insulted the force.

The convoy was held after transport minister Loke Siew Fook slammed the actions of a group of motorcyclists who turned the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport's departure hall area into a racing circuit. Roadblocks had been set up in several locations in Kota Bharu in anticipation of the convoy, which was organised by several PAS assemblymen, including Wan Rohimi.
