Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Immigration Officers Service Union welcomed the Sabah Government’s decision to postpone the implementation of policies and operations under the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency Act 860 at the State’s entry points, said KPPIS president Azizah S Ahmad on Thursday.
She said KPPIS expressed appreciation to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and the Sabah Chief Minister’s Department for acting swiftly to safeguard Sabah’s special rights and immigration autonomy as enshrined under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 . She said KPPIS also appreciated the Sabah Law Society’s statement issued on May 13 regarding concerns over legal contradictions and the alleged ultra vires issues surrounding the implementation of Act 860, while expressing hope for continued legal guidance from the body.
