Individuals are reporting having to bathe at highway rest and service areas, utilize rivers, and travel long distances to obtain water for basic needs like drinking and hygiene. This situation underscores the critical importance of reliable infrastructure and highlights the hardship faced by the community due to the ongoing water shortage. The local water authority, Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd (AKSB), is working to address the issue, but the current measures are proving insufficient to meet the escalating demand.\The water supply disruption has significantly affected the daily routines of the residents. Sahazudin Mohammad, a 52-year-old resident, explained the challenges he faces, stating that he is forced to use the facilities at highway rest areas for bathing, despite living in his own home. He highlighted the difficulties the water shortage poses, especially during Ramadan and in preparation for Aidilfitri, when water usage typically increases. The limited water availability, typically restricted to a slow flow between midnight and 6 am, further exacerbates the problem, making it challenging for residents to meet their basic needs. AKSB has been providing assistance by refilling water tanks, but the supply is not adequate for the affected residents. This situation showcases the stress placed on individuals and families when essential services such as water become unreliable. The need for a more sustainable and effective solution is clearly evident.\Mohd Nasah Ya, another affected resident, further elaborated on the financial strain the water crisis has inflicted on families. He reported that some families are spending significant amounts of money to purchase clean drinking water to ensure their survival during the situation. He himself has to undertake frequent, round trips between his home in Rantau Manis and his family's house in Gua Musang town, which is located about 40km away, to secure water supplies. The AKSB Corporate Department attributes the disruption to the water treatment plant (LRA) exceeding its maximum capacity. The Limau Kasturi treatment plant, which supplies water to Rantau Manis, is currently operating at 5.2 million litres per day, exceeding its design capacity of 4 million litres. To help manage the crisis, AKSB is deploying tanker lorries and refilling static tanks in affected areas twice daily. These short-term solutions offer temporary relief, but a more comprehensive solution to meet the increasing demand during festive periods is still needed to avoid persistent water shortages in the future. The current measures are inadequate to the need in this critical situation
