The additional public holiday 's timing is conditional, dependent on the actual date of Hari Raya Aidilfitri .
If the celebration falls on Friday, 20 March, the subsequent Monday, 23 March, will be designated as a public holiday. Conversely, if Aidilfitri is observed on Saturday, 21 March, the preceding Friday, 20 March, will be declared a public holiday, thereby extending the holiday period for the public. This proactive announcement, made well in advance of the festive season, is intended to offer Malaysians the necessary time to arrange their travel, family gatherings, and other celebratory activities associated with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
