Perak PKR chairman Mohamad Hairul Amir Sabri said that all 24 PKR divisions in Perak have successfully held their AGMs, during which grassroots members raised various motions and issues, including internal party matters and constituency-related concerns. He said these inputs, including matters linked to seat allocation, would be channelled through several levels of discussion, starting with the state PKR leadership, followed by engagement within Pakatan Harapan and the broader unity government framework, before being brought to the party’s central congress if necessary. “Perak’s seat allocation situation is relatively settled compared to other states, as most constituencies already have established representation through the Menteri Besar’s special officers. “There are no major issues in Perak. Everything has largely been resolved at the basic level,” he told reporters after presenting aid under the Tambun parliamentary Madani Education Aid programme held at SMK Ulu Kinta here on Saturday . Mohamad Hairul said any requests for adjustments would be handled through negotiations and mutual agreement, including possible seat exchanges where appropriate. On the performance of party-appointed councillors and Menteri Besar’s special officers, he said Perak has introduced a structured interview process prior to appointments to ensure merit-based selection. “The initiative, which is seen as relatively unique, was implemented to avoid appointments based solely on political considerations and to ensure effective service delivery to the public. “Currently, PKR Perak has appointed three Menteri Besar’s special officers in the Kuala Kurau, Kuala Sepetang, and Sungai Manik state constituencies. “All three are newly appointed, and we are confident that they are active and performing their duties effectively,” he said. Last month, Lumut PKR division tabled an emergency motion calling for the Pangkor state seat to be allocated to the party to contest in GE16.On the aid, Mohamad Hairul said about 500 students in the Tambun parliamentary constituency received assistance under the programme supported by Yayasan MARA. He said the initiative, which is not the first of its kind, forms part of ongoing efforts to support students. “Further assistance will be extended to students entering universities, and we hope the aid can be personally handed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is the Tambun MP,” he added. He said overall, a total of RM7.16 mil has been allocated for education-related assistance in Tambun from 2023 to early 2026. “The funding comes from a combination of parliamentary allocations and contributions linked to the Prime Minister. “The aid covers both direct financial assistance and development support, which includes the provision of smartboards to most schools in the constituency as part of efforts to enhance digital learning, as well as minor infrastructure upgrades typically costing below RM200,000. “Moving forward, education will remain a key priority in Tambun, with plans to continue channelling substantial annual funding,” he added.Penang ferries spared fuel surcharge despite rising costs
