Legendary tennis player Novak Djokovic has recruited his former doubles partner Viktor Troicki as the new coach for his pursuit of a 25th Grand Slam title in Roland Garros.

Pengumuman tersebut dibuat sendiri oleh Djokovic menerusi Instagram sekali gus menghangatkan suasana menjelang Terbuka Perancis ketika legenda Serbia itu masih bergelut dengan masalah kecederaan dan prestasi tidak menentu musim ini.
“Selamat datang sahabat saya, rakan sepasukan saya dan kini jurulatih saya, Viktor Troicki,” kata Djokovic. Troicki sebelum ini pernah membantu Djokovic ketika memenangi pingat emas Olimpik Paris 2024 selain menjadi sebahagian daripada skuad Serbia yang menjuarai Piala Davis 2010. Pelantikan Troicki dilihat hadir tepat pada masanya ketika Djokovic sedang cuba mengembalikan keyakinan selepas musimnya terganggu akibat kecederaan bahu selain persiapan gelanggang tanah liat yang agak terhad.
Pemain berusia 38 tahun itu turut dibayangi kekecewaan selepas tewas di final Terbuka Australia Januari lalu sebelum terpaksa memperlahankan jadual kejohanan kerana faktor kecergasan. Kini perhatian peminat tenis terarah kepada kemampuan Troicki untuk membantu Djokovic kembali garang di Paris dalam usaha memburu sejarah sebagai pemain pertama memenangi 25 gelaran Grand Slam. Roland Garros kali ini juga mungkin menjadi antara peluang terbaik terakhir buat Djokovic untuk terus membuktikan dirinya masih belum selesai selepas misi Grand Slamnya beberapa kali tersungkur. – AGENSI
