SENATE President Juan Miguel 'Migz' Zubiri on Sunday stood firm on his commitment to work for the approval of a substantial pay increase for ordinary workers through a legislated wage hike.

The senator said he will convince fellow senators to support a legislated wage hike, as he cited a recent Pulse Asia survey that showed an overwhelming clamor for wage increases.The survey asked respondents if they were in favor of the proposal to increase by P150 the daily minimum wage of workers in the private sector.'A whopping 97 percent said they agreed to the proposal,' Zubiri said.

But they also need to share their blessings with our workers,' he added.In a text message later, he said, 'On the flip side, I spoke to several businessmen who are agreeable with the move to increase wages as they have seen a marked increase in Filipino workers wanting to leave the country and work as OFWs abroad.
