The Zombieland soundtrack offers a blend of country and rock hits along with some unexpected genres. Here's the post-apocalyptic playlist.
The Zombieland soundtrack features an eclectic mix of easygoing American recording artists, such as Willie Nelson as well as more hard rock-heavy tracks by the likes of Metallica and Van Halen. Revolving around a ragtag bunch of survivors in a zombie apocalypse, the 2009 comedy has acquired a cult status, eventually spawning a sequel a decade later. The diversity within the movie's soundtrack can best be explained from the vastly different personalities among the main characters.
"Feels so Good" performed by Chuck Mangione: Flügelhorn player and trumpeter Chuck Magnione's feel-good single can be heard when a zombie appears in the back seat of Columbus' car. "Everybody Wants Some" by Van Halen: Hard rock and heavy metal are common genres throughout the Zombieland soundtrack, making space for classics, like this 1980 single, that plays when Columbus and Tallahassee discover a yellow Hummer filled with guns.
"The Marriage of Figaro, K.492" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: A segment of Mozart's groundbreaking opera "The Marriage of Figaro" also finds its way in Zombieland as the lead characters release their pent-up rage by destroying the store. "Ghostbusters" by Ray Parker Jr: When Bill Murray appears as himself in a surprise cameo, many of his films are name-dropped. Ghostbusters, a career high for Murray in the '80s, is obviously referenced, with its titular song also playing as Little Rock and Columbus watch it in his mansion.
