PETALING JAYA: Lee Zii Jia has chosen to skip the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham to focus on the World Championships.

The Commonwealth Games is scheduled from July 28-Aug 8 while the world meet will be held in Tokyo from Aug 22-28.“I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent Malaysia in the Commonwealth Games but I’ve to humbly turn it down,” said the independent shuttler.

Zii Jia reached the semi-finals of the Indonesian Open last week and is preparing for Malaysian and Singapore Opens. “The season has been hectic, and I would rather prepare myself to be in the best condition for the World Championships,” he said in an interview with Astro Arena.
