PETALING JAYA: Lee Zii Jia faces a stern test against Japan’s World Championships silver medallist Kodai Naraoka in the first round of the China Open from Sept 5-10 in Changzhou.

The independent men’s singles shuttler will need to be on his toes against the in-form Naraoka to stand a chance of making it to the second round.

If Zii Jia, who dropped one rung from No. 13 to No. 14 in the latest world rankings, manages to score an upset win over the 22-year-old Japanese, he will play either Toma Junior Popov of France or Taiwan’s Lin Chun-yi in the second round. Meanwhile, Badminton Association of Malaysia’s Ng Tze Yong will also be in the fray in the China tourney.
