Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Chinese President Xi Jinping have spoken over the phone for the first time since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Mr Jinping has outlined a new push for peace and eventual ceasefire as a Chinese delegation is set to head to Ukraine to hold talks with all parties.
Mr Zelenskyy has expressed his optimism in the move, labelling the peace plan an “opportunity” to give “new energy” to the countries’ relations and utilise China’s “political power”.
