Russia has rejected calls to demilitarize the area around the plant, and both Russian and Ukrainian forces have been accused of shelling the site.

The facility is operated by the Ukrainian state enterprise, Energoatom, which also runs Ukraine's other three nuclear power stations, none of which are near the front lines.UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who met Ukraine's Presidentand Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Lviv on Thursday, said:"Any potential damage to Zaporizhzhia is suicide."
