Zambry confident Anwar’s visit will fortify Malaysia-Singapore ties
Foreign Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir says Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's international popularity will be a boon to attracting foreign investments to Malaysia. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, January 29, 2023.
He said this is based on the background and profile of Anwar, who is well known internationally, especially in Asean and the island republic. “What is most important is the existing leadership of the country and the stability created after the 15th general election,” he told Malaysian media in Singapore today in conjunction with Anwar’s maiden visit to the island after being sworn in as prime minister on November 24.
Zambry said the meeting between Anwar and the latter’s counterpart Lee Hsien Loong may involve discussions on the existing agreement, which will be a priority, in addition to future proposals. He said the Johor-Singapore Rapid Transit System project, which is expected to be completed in 2026, is a priority because it would positively impact the transport system.
