KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi believes there is a formula to resolve the ongoing political crisis in Sabah and wants a ceasefire from all sides.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Barisan Nasional chairman and Umno president, said the “wish list” of the several parties in the crisis would be detailed and considered rationally.

Bernama reports that the formula would be discussed with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor soon. “I am confident there is a formula that we will bring to Kota Kinabalu, and I think a ceasefire is warranted now without any more statements from any party on the matter.

“The people should not be burdened if there is a hung state assembly or issues concerning the state constitution,” he told reporters after visiting Wisma Berita at Angkasapuri Kota Media here yesterday. Ahmad Zahid also urged all parties not to take a vindictive approach in finding a solution, adding that his wish for the political stability currently enjoyed at the national level also be reflected in Sabah.
