YouTube Music contractors must move to and work from its Austin offices by February 6. Staffers say this is a retaliatory move after they voted to unionize.
The complaint was over the upcoming return-to-office deadline on February 6. Members of YouTube Music's content operations team filed a complaint this week with the National Labor Relations Board over an upcoming February 6 deadline for workers to return to offices in Austin, Texas. for YouTube's parent company Alphabet.
"The small number of associates who voluntarily left the Austin area and are unable or unwilling to return have the opportunity to be considered for assignments on other client projects at Cognizant," Cognizant said in a statement. Employees became frustrated by Cognizant's indecisiveness, Marie-Marschner said. Besides concerns over the logistics of relocating, the current compensation is not adequate to support the cost of living in Austin if they are forced to move, she added. When Cognizant set the February deadline last November, it gave employees outside Austin only about three months to move.
