YouTube increased the price of Premium in the US without a word
YouTube Premium is now $2 more expensive in the US after the firm upped the price without warning.
Thankfully this increase is limited to the US and any future increases will be accompanied by a 30-day notice period.The Land of the Free is paying a bit more forthis week after the platform increased the price of the subscription service that – among other things – removes advertising for users. The increase is from $11.99 to $13.99 per month and will apply to both new and existing subscribers in the United States. This increase came without any sort of warning from the platform.“We’re updating the price for YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium subscribers in the US to continue delivering great service and features,” the spokesperson told the publication.
The spokesperson went on to say that YouTube believes the new price “reflects the value of YouTube Premium” which includes the aforementioned ad-free experience and access to YouTube Music. The increase is said to be limited to the US and the good news is that any future increases will come with a 30-day notice. That likely doesn’t matter to subscribers in the US who now have to pay an additional $2 for YouTube Premium.Recently the platform began cracking down on ad-blockers, threatening some users withYouTube isn’t alone in its disdain for folks using its platform without contributing in some way.
