OVER 100 Indian youths turned up to register for the territorial army selection process in Sungai Petani, Kedah, Malaysia Nanban reported.The registration was organised with the help of Kuala Muda Indian Munnetra Kazhagam and Malaysia Kalvi Munnetra Kazhagam’s Kedah branch at the Sri Subramaniya Swami Devasthanam.

One of the organisers and retired army personnel, R. Sella, said the hopefuls would be briefed on the registration and selection process.

“They will have to undergo a preliminary physical screening and a full medical check-up,” Sella said. Munnetra Kazhagam coordinator C. Kathiravan said many youths had gone through the selection process and were now in military training.Similar events would be held in other cities to encourage more Indian youths to sign up, he added.> The second annual global summit of Tamil entrepreneurs and professionals, known as The Rise, will take place in Kuala Lumpur this year, the same daily reported.

The summit took place in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, last year and attracted participants from 17 countries.This year’s summit will be held at the Midlands Con­vention Centre in Shah Alam from May 3-5 with participants from India, the United States, the United King­dom, Myan­mar, Qatar and Oman, among others.The above articles are compiled from the vernacular newspapers .
