PORT DICKSON: A group of five youths pleaded guilty to a charge of violating the movement control order at the Magistrate's Court here on Tuesday (May 5).

Muhamad Rafizul Helmi Muhamad Raus, 20, Syareedza Saifulnizam, Aiman Khuzairie Nordin, both 19 and Luqman Haqem Nor Hisham, 18 were fined RM900 each by Magistrate Siti Huzaifah Abdul Talib.However, a 17-year-old was released on bail of RM500 and asked to re-appear before the court on June 16 for sentencing pending a report from the Welfare Department.

Aiman Khuzairie and the juvenile are both students while the three other accused work as shop assistants. The five were arrested by a police patrol team after they were seen loitering in the Bandar Springhill residential area around 1.40am on April 30. They failed to provide a valid reason for being in a public area when the movement control order was in force, and all were charged under Rule 6 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2020.The youths paid the fine.
