BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Agriculture can be a profitable business, offering opportunities for private investment or contract farming, especially in high-tech crop farming, which can increase yields and provide good returns, said Acting Director of Agriculture and Agrifood Abuzar Mohd Tahir at the closing of a five-day youth exposure programme at the AgriBusiness Centre, Kampong Rimba.
The participants also visited farms of past youth programme alumni who successfully grow crops like chilli using modern technology, as well as supermarkets that connect entrepreneurs, suppliers and customers. The goal is to produce committed, innovative and productive young agricultural entrepreneurs, that contribute to the sector’s gross domestic product growth.”
