Readers respond to our reaction.In the race for Bexar County Judge, Republican nominee Trish DeBerry fundamentally misunderstands the nature of the position. She describes county judge as acting as the CEO of the county.
Of course, fiscal policy is important, as is health policy, housing policy, transportation, public safety and a host of other issues the county faces. But all those facets of our lives in Bexar County must be first informed by a strong moral code. I know I’ll be seen as a party pooper, but I don’t understand why New York Yankee Aaron Judge’s record-breaking home run should be editorialized as “inspiring the nation.” I’d like to see a poll of how many Americans felt inspired by this achievement.
