A reader has some questions about the cattle ranchers who have been feeling the effects of the drought.Re: “In drier straits: Drought, inflation force desperate Texas ranchers to sell off cattle early,” Front Page, Sunday:

Yes, yes, yes, it’s true. No single weather event can be attributed to climate change. However, the drought we are experiencing this year is giving us a small taste of what’s to come if measures to mitigate the effects of climate change continue to be ignored by our elected officials.

No man should be allowed to consider an issue so remote to them; it’s just wrong. It should be a part of family planning. I still believe only women should be able to address the issue. If there is a heaven, then in due time the deities will deal with the participants; if not, then the woman has to do what is best for her.Re: “Democrats keep playing Sombrero Politics,” Metro, Sunday:

I think Metro columnist Gilbert Garcia was a little harsh in his Sunday column in saying that Jill Biden was playing “Sombrero Politics” in a speech. The term seems to imply a dismissiveness, the idea that Democratic politicians need only make a few token gestures to keep Latino voters in the fold. Also implied is a lack of recognition of the diversity in Latino culture, and it was this perception that the first lady was addressing. She used the simile of breakfast tacos, but she wasn’t comparing tacos to people but rather to cultural diversity. Certainly, she was reaching out to Latino voters but not in a way that seemed complacent or dismissive.
