Re: “Progress seen in cleaning, saving the planet,” Nation & World, Friday:
Even though I know what the headline meant, I want to caution many who just skim headlines that environmental progress is for our health more than the planet’s. There’s such a thing as the “web of life,” and it’s been impeded by short-term thinking and no plans for sustainability.Who raises tax rates …We need to remember appraisal values by appraisal districts are separate from tax rates set by the taxing entities.
Interesting that the Legislature wants to say a great deal about what is taught in local public schools but is not interested in funding school districts. Legislators and the governor make funding the responsibility of local property taxpayers knowing we will naturally blame the local taxing entities for our pain.I have a question for Florida Gov.
Disney should be shielded from politicians like DeSantis. It’s called free speech! It’s in the U.S. Constitution, if he’d bother to read the darn thing — and respect it!
