An Adelaide Hills man crushed to death by a dump truck near Murray Bridge has been identified as a young father who was about to welcome his second child. Luke Gowling, 30, was critically injured by heavy machinery at Mulch N More’s Brinkley depot, about 7km from Murray Bridge town centre, on Friday morning. He was taken to hospital but died of his injuries. 7NEWS understands the truck’s hydraulic hoist failed, causing the vehicle’s tray to collapse on Gowling.
In a statement, Mulch N More said it is “deeply saddened and shocked” by the driver’s death in this ”tragic accident”. “This is a very distressing time for everyone involved and, as a small family-run business, we are grieving along with his loved ones,” the spokesperson said. “Out of respect for our valued colleague and friend, we have suspended operations until further notice and ask that his family be given privacy.
