Three young entrepreneurs in Kuala Lumpur are now proud owners of a barbershop thanks to a government initiative that provides skills training and business opportunities for low-income individuals. The Community's Barbershop, run under Puji@Wilayah by the Federal Territories Department and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), offers participants training in technical and vocational education on running a barbershop, covering aspects like financial management, customer service, hygiene standards, and marketing strategies. The three successful graduates, Mohd Zulkifli Shamsudin, Fitri Roslan, and Bharath Prakash, were given the opportunity to operate their own business within a government housing scheme.

The initiative, part of DBKL’s commitment to community empowerment, sees selected participants undergoing training in technical and vocational education on running a barbershop. Fitri working on a customer as Dr Zaliha and Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif look on. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Dr Zaliha Mustafa, who launched the initiative at the Kampung Datuk Keramat flats, said the effort was designed to empower low-income folk.
