Benji Ward was due to come home on Thursday night. He’s currently in a Bali hospital.

According to best friend Bailey Scarlett, Ward underwent life-saving surgery on Thursday night and will require another surgery on his leg in three weeks.

“It was really worrying and a bit touch and go as they wouldn’t operate until they saw proof of funds coming in,” Scarlett told 7NEWS.com.au.Benji Ward, 24, was hit by a car while riding a motorbike on Thursday morning.A video was posted online of Ward post surgery, in which he said all had gone well.“There’s no bleeding on the brain and all the blood from my head stopped so it’s all looking positive.

“The support and everyone reaching out to me has been amazing, and got a lot of appreciation for everyone.” The 24-year-old will also need a metal halo splint in his leg which will leave him unable to work for over four months. The accident is also not covered by Ward’s insurance. It’s unclear when he will be able to come home, and will all depend on how he recovers from the surgery.Local authorities are searching for the driver of the vehicle who is believed to have hit at least one other person the same night.
